Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information this site ("Sandustry Wiki", an unofficial fan-made guide site) collects when you visit, and what we do with it. The short version: we do not have accounts, forms, or our own tracking cookies — we use Google Analytics 4 for aggregate traffic statistics and show ads served by Adsterra; both are third-party services with their own data practices, described below.

1. What we do not collect

• No account registration, and no personal profiles of any kind
• No contact forms, comment systems, or newsletter signups — we never receive your name, email address, or any direct personal identifier
• No cookies set by this site itself for tracking purposes (analytics and advertising cookies set by third parties are described below)

2. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-J6B9NZ47LC) to understand aggregate traffic — which guides are read, approximate region, device type, and referral source. GA4 sets cookies (such as _ga) and processes usage data including a truncated IP address; we do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not enable advertising features. This processing is governed by the Google Privacy Policy linked in the sources section. You can opt out at any time by blocking googletagmanager.com in your browser or content blocker, or by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on — the site remains fully functional without analytics.

3. Advertising (Adsterra)

Pages on this site display advertisements served by Adsterra. When an ad loads, your browser contacts Adsterra's servers, and Adsterra may set or read cookies and process technical data (such as IP address, device and browser type, and approximate location) to deliver and measure ads. We do not receive any personally identifying information from Adsterra about our visitors. Ad loading is subject to Adsterra's own policies and privacy terms; you can block the ad scripts with a content blocker without losing access to any guide content.

2. What is stored in your browser

The site stores exactly one preference in your browser's local storage: your theme choice (light or dark), saved under the key theme if you use the theme toggle. This value never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

3. Hosting provider (Cloudflare)

The site is served as static files through Cloudflare Pages. Like almost all web hosts, Cloudflare processes standard technical connection data when your browser requests a page — such as your IP address, user agent, and requested URLs — for security, caching, and abuse-prevention purposes. This processing is governed by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy, linked in the sources section of this page. We do not receive or store per-visitor logs from Cloudflare beyond aggregate request statistics.

4. YouTube embeds

Guide pages embed YouTube videos using a click-to-load facade: a static thumbnail is shown first, and the actual YouTube player (from youtube-nocookie.com) loads only if you press play. Until you click, no connection to YouTube is made from the video area. If you do press play, your browser connects to Google's servers and Google's privacy policy (linked below) applies to that interaction, including any cookies Google may set for video playback.

5. External links

Pages on this site link to third-party services such as Steam, Discord, Reddit, YouTube, and the official Sandustry website. When you follow those links, you leave this site and become subject to the destination's privacy policy. We encourage you to read those policies; we are not responsible for third-party practices.

6. Children

The site is a general-audience information resource and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

7. Changes to this policy

If our data practices change, this page will be updated before the change takes effect, and the verification date above will be refreshed. (Update history: analytics disclosure added on August 16, 2026, when Google Analytics 4 was introduced; advertising disclosure added on August 16, 2026, when Adsterra ads were introduced.)
